CONCEPT

The installation tries to make a commentary on medias and the perception of media. Nowadays the audience is used to get images and information out of all parts of the world. The one-way media is confronting the audience with pictures that are made and controlled by more and more growing multinational media concerns, or by one authority, for example China itself. Information therefore is always in control of others, who choose. So confronted with the one way media-pictures, the audience seem to be in a space that is not here and also not there. It is somewhere in between. The installation tries to make this space, the in between, viewable and feelable.

THE IMAGES

(viewed in TVs and so associated to the mass media)

Globes, with different shapes and colors, blinking magically in monitors and projections. It gives the association of something that lives. But it seems not here. The colors and shapes are too strange for something that we know. Therefore more comparative with pictures we know from science fiction movies and therefore life form out of here/space. The globes are transparent, sometimes in the middle, a structure is viewable and can be associated with a brain. The Brain that gives the capability of planning and thinking.

THE ACCOUSTIC

THE ACCOUSTIC

While looking and moving around to see the different monitors (TV’s) the audience disturb the received radio signal, so that the audience is modulating the sound shape. Because of the fact that imaginary of the images and the sound shape are so strong connected to each other, the audience get the feeling of being sometimes with the image and sometimes out of it. Like floating in between. So that there is an always-opened window, which allows escaping, form the dominance of the image. The connection of audience and sound amplify the modulation of the sound shape and the sensation of being connected and not connected.
